Downriver La Leche League
It is with a sad heart that I must inform you that due to some health concerns I am experiencing I am having to place our group on a 6 month leave of absences. This is not something I want to do, however, I am unable at this time to run the meetings and do all of the other duties I need to be able to do to keep our group viable with the health issues I am experiencing. I understand that this is not ideal nor is it convenient for any of you needing help. I will leave my email active and I will do my very best to get responses to you in a timely manner. Please try to be understanding that I am only doing this because my health and my family need me to.
There are times when a breastfeeding mother needs support and encouragement from someone who has successfully breastfed her own baby.
La Leche League Leaders are experienced breastfeeding mothers who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding.
If you have questions about breastfeeding, whether before your baby’s birth, during the first few days, or later, help is available via phone, internet, email or in person.
La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.
Downriver Le Leche League meets Southgate Veterans Memorial Library on the third Thursday of every month, and we welcome all mothers and children who find our location convenient. We’d love to see you at a meeting!
Monthly Series Meetings
All pregnant women and nursing mothers are invited to join us for our monthly meetings. Come, and find a community that will support you in your decision to mother your child through breastfeeding. Babies, Toddlers and young children are always welcome at La Leche League meetings!
Topics covered include:
The Advantages of Breastfeeding
Getting Off to a Good Start and Family Adjustments to a New Baby
The Art of Breastfeeding: Avoiding and Overcoming Difficulties
Nutrition and Weaning
Downriver La Leche League has a lending library of books and resources on childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, and nutrition. If one interests you, check it out and return it the next month.
Downriver La Leche League meets on the third Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at Southgate Veterans Memorial Library at 14680 Dix Toledo Rd. You may want to bring some small, quiet toys to help entertain your little one(s) during the meeting.
Currently, we will not be hosting any enrichment meetings for the remainder of this year. We apologize for this. We are looking at ways to make enrichments a part of our next year schedule once again.
Enrichment meetings are informal meetings covering topics of interest to breastfeeding mothers that do not fall under the umbrella of our regular series meetings. Come join us for one of these meetings as we discuss and share ideas about parenting, feeding our family, babywearing and more!
